Question: Is there a movie theater in town? What is it called? I can't find any information on it anywhere if it exists.

Answer: A lazy afternoon at the matinee ... reminds me of my misspent youth ... well we'll touch on the that at some other time. Ruidoso's Sierra Cinema is our hometown one and only theater. All in all though it shows a pretty good mix of first run films at the same time they show 'em in the big towns and there always somethin' on the screen suitable for kids. The popcorn is good and buttery and the Ju-Ju beads will stick in your teeth the same way they do at home. You can check out what's playing at any given time at the Sierra Cinema web site.

Question: What can kids do in Ruidoso ... are there kids activities? I'm afraid its just about the casinos and horse racing.

Answer: Fear no more ma'am. Sure we appeal to the child at heart in all of us but rest assured ... Ruidoso is kid friendly! Okay here's the short list to consider. Pony rides, fishing, movie theater, bowling alley, hiking, Kidz Konnection playground, go-carts, water bumper cars, horseback riding, a human maze, stagecoach rides, arcade ... you want more? Question: Which properties have swimming pools for guests? There don't seem to be that many in town. My kids have to swim.

Answer: Most of the franchise hotels have pools and there are some fine independent properties as well. From what I've seen the Hawthorn Suites and the West Winds Lodge and Condos both appear to have very nice pools and are kid friendly.
